Chris K. Haas, PhD is an expert in plastics, films, labels, and adhesives, recognized for his ability to generate and protect IP, design and develop products and technologies, and collaborate with customers and business teams to identify marketable, manufacturable solutions. A major focus area is security documents such as passports, identity cards, currency, and labels. In addition to his client collaborations, he has mentored and guided dozens of teams in a wide range of engineering projects including medical devices, automation equipment, additive manufacturing, and farming and agricultural products. With more than 20 years’ experience as a product development engineer, Chris is acutely aware of the needs to deliver technically relevant, manufacturable, safe products with an eye towards marketability, non-infringement, and novelty. His engineering process is to identify a particular issue and, using the tools at hand, devise a solution based on a rigorously determined set of functional requirements. This process has been used to trouble-shoot numerous issues with processes and products, to craft new-to-the world products, and to determine root-cause failure of systems.
